To make raw home made macadamia nut milk:

  • 1 cup raw macadamias soaked for about 4 hours
  • 3 or 4 cups of purified water (depending on how rich you want the milk to taste and what you are using it for)
  1. Throw 1 cup of raw soaked macadamias in your Vitamix with 3-4 cups of water, depending on how rich you want the milk and what you are using it for.
  2. I tend to use the 3:1 rule and it works for me. The richer the better for me. But if you are new to macadamias you might want to start with a 4:1 ratio.
  3. If I am using macadamia but milk in soups and smoothies, I just use it naked and untouched. But if you are going to drink it, or use it on cereals, you may want to jazz it up a bit. I have listed some suggestions that have worked for me. But like the other nut milks – the sky is the limit. Like other milks – you can sweeten it, and it lends itself to fruit and chocolate flavourings beautifully. Trust me – discover the macadamia milk secret, and it will change your life!

For a basic flavour for cereals and breakfast drinks try:

  • 3-4 pitted dates, 3 Tbsp maple syrup, yacon syrup, raw agave, raw honey, coconut sugar, OR a few drops of Stevia
  • 1-2 tsp of natural vanilla extract
  • a pinch of Celtic sea salt or Himalayan salt

For a richer, creamier milk you could also add:

  • 1 Tbsp of coconut butter
  • 1 Tbsp of NON GM soy or sunflower lecithin

But I never feel like it needs it.

**You could add some raw cacao powder for chocolate milk, fresh fruit, coconut and cinnamon and sweeten to taste.

Freeze leftover milk in ice cube trays for use later

Don't waste that leftover milk. Freeze it in ice cube trays, and them empty into containers or zip-lock freezer bags for use later in smoothies, soups, and other recipes.
