Home & Family on Hallmark Channel: Raw Tacos

I had so much fun "uncooking" on the Home & Family show for the Hallmark Channel. My dear friend Sophie Uliano is a regular on the show, and had been telling me for ages about how much fun she had hanging out with Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare and the rest of the "family." Shooting the Earth Day 2014 episode with Sophie and fellow guests Tabatha Coffey, Reno Wilson, Laura Nativo, Alan Luxmore, and Jessie Jane was just an absolute blast. Tabatha talked about her new book, OWN IT!

The Blender Girl cookbook launched on April 8th and it was an exciting day. I woke up and the book was #130 of all books on Amazon, and started climbing. I was so blessed to have my parents visiting from Australia, Scott’s parents in from Sacramento, our dear friends Joann and Melissa from Arizona, and Richard from Texas, Michelle and Korey, as well as our sweet friends Debbie, Chuck, David, and Pola from San Bernardino. Planning and catering a party for 300 people is no small task…

Raw Carrot Pecan Milk from Deliciously Holistic

The press for The Blender Girl book is in full swing. I've been doing a ton of interviews, and everybody wants to talk about homemade milks. So, when I was selecting a recipe to feature from Deliciously Holistic this delicious carrot pecan milk literally jumped off the page begging to be chosen. I love this recipe because it shows how you can make a simple milk more interesting and nutritious by blending in vegetables. Many of you have written to me saying how much you love the green…

Melissa’s Produce Hosts The Blender Girl Book Signing Party

I was incredibly humbled and grateful when my favorite produce company Melissa's Produce hosted a media and blogger book signing in their incredible kitchen at their headquarters in Los Angeles. Robert Schueller is such a kind, generous man, and boy does he know how to throw a party! It was my first book signing and I must admit my hand was shaking as I signed my very first book as an author. But I had such a great time chatting with everybody who came. Chef Tom and Chef Raquel…

Simple Vegan Mac N Cheeze from Mayim Bialik

Looking at Mayim Bialik's resume I have to wonder what I have been doing with my time! Is there anything this woman doesn't do? She's not only an Emmy-nominated actress for CBS’s The Big Bang Theory, she also has a PhD in neuroscience! And she is a great cook and busy mother of two boys, who have been raised vegan. In her cookbook, Mayim's Table she shares quick easy recipes that make it easy for busy parents to cook nutritious, healthy meals the whole family can enjoy. The best thing…

WGN: Easy Healthy Recipes

I had a blast sharing some quick easy recipes on WGN in Chicago yesterday. I whipped up some great recipes from my new book - a 5 minute, 15 minute, and 30 minute meal in my Vitamix. I shared the sweet kale shake that tastes like ice-cream. (If you haven't tried it don't miss it because it is still the most visited recipe on my site and the most fabulous introduction to green smoothies!) I also made the amazing creamy of cauliflower soup that is my most requested recipe. It takes 10…

Vegan Coconut, Lemongrass & Lime Soup from Thrive Energy Cookbook

I was so excited when I got my copy of Brendan Brazier's new Thrive Energy Cookbook. People are raving about this book, and with good reason. The recipes are super easy and delicious, and the photography by Kevin Clark is stunning. I'm a huge fan of Brendan's books and have featured several of his recipes on the site. But, he's really stepped it up a notch with this book. It is his best book ever aimed at making plant based eating more accessible. For those of you who don't know…

Buckwheat & Oat Waffles from Alexa Croft

I got an amazing new waffle maker a few months ago to make waffles and pancakes for my niece and nephew when they come to visit next month, and I have been making lots of waffles to get them juuuuust right! Allergy-Free waffles can be really tricky though. They are either too gooey, or heavy, or too crispy. It took me forever to perfect the gluten-free vegan pancake/waffle recipe in my new cookbook and so when I made Lexie's recipe I appreciated how many trials it would have taken to…

Delicious Cultured Vegetables

I eat probiotic-rich (fermented) foods every day. Probiotic replenishment is vital for maintaining a balanced inner eco-system so that the friendly bacteria are strong enough to balance the hostile bacteria that is present in every body. Foods rich in probiotics help to build mineral-rich alkaline blood, and are essential for the assimilation of protein, healthy digestion, cleansing the body, and fighting disease. I get my probiotic intake in several ways: I drink 1/4 cup coconut water…
