Happy St Patrick's Day! This is my favourite "non holiday season" celebration of the year, not just because I am part Irish (yes, I am a McDermott and an O'Sullivan), but because the entire world goes green with food! Yippppeeee! I thought long and hard about what special "green" recipe I was going to share to pay homage this year, and I decided on this raw, alkaline, sugar-free, cancer-friendly, diabetic-friendly mint pudding that Scott and other acutely ill patients could enjoy.  I have received literally hundreds of emails from readers and listeners who have read our cancer story, or listened to The pH Miracle, who have asked for help and support with recipes to aid their transition into a more alkaline lifestyle. I am going to... Keep Reading

The pH Miracle audiobook continues to sell like alkaline hotcakes since Scott and I announced it on Facebook last week. In case you missed Scott's story, you can read or listen to his incredible journey with cancer here. You can also read my more humourous account of how we came to narrate Dr Young's book here. We will begin recording the second book in the series some time in the next couple of months. I can't wait!  It really has been quite a magical journey the last six months, and we are so grateful for our loyal readers and listeners, as well as the unwavering love and support from our beloved friends and family, who embraced our seemingly bizarre "green" liquid lifestyle with gusto and enthusiasm -- proving to be a glorious (and... I cannot believe we're already into March! Where has the time gone? I have to start this month by thanking you for all of the lovely comments, facebook posts, tweets, and emails of love and support we have received since Scott and I shared our cancer story. We are utterly thrilled that so many of our readers and listeners have purchased The pH Miracle audiobook that we narrated, and have contacted us to express how inspiring it has been. We really appreciate each and every one of you.  I am happy to report that Scott is living down at the ranch with Dr Young for the next couple of weeks, and not only is he nearing the end of his cancer treatment, he is also close to being insulin-free as well! As a type 1 diabetic, who has been... Keep Reading

This almond milk kefir strawberry smoothie is one of my favourite kefir smoothies, and was a lifesaver for me when I was transitioning from stage one of The Body Ecology Diet. Yesterday, I posted my super easy recipe for raw almond milk kefir. and shared how including this plant based kefir, along with coconut water kefir, cultured coconut pudding, and fermented vegetables help to rebalance my inner eco system and restore my optimum health and vitality. This smoothie is also perfect... Keep Reading

Are you including probiotic-rich foods in your diet? Including coconut water kefir, cultured vegetables, and this raw almond milk "kefir" yohurt has helped enormously to rebalance my inner eco-system, and restore my health and vitality. I wrote about many of these ideas in my how to section when I started the site a few years ago. But, it has been remiss of me not to have posted these very important recipes here on the blog. I will share these recipes in the next couple of months.   Those of you who have been following me for a while would be familiar with my life-long battle with candida. You can read more about my personal story here. But, just briefly, I had tried every anti-candida diet known to man, and nothing really worked until... Keep Reading

If you want a protein-rich, energizing, nutrient-dense smoothie that tastes like a dessert, THIS is it! I very rarely create recipes using 3 bananas! AAAAHHHH! But, it really creates some magic in this smoothie. Not only is this blend sweet, rich, and tasty, it is absolutely CHOCK FULL of nutrients and plant based protein. You could also add more leafy greens to boost it even more.  I have used the homemade unsweetened, unstrained hemp seed milk from yesterday's post as the base for this smoothie. As I mentioned yesterday, hemp seeds are extremely rich in vitamins, minerals, healthy plant based fats, antioxidants, fibre, live enzymes, natural chlorophyll, Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty essential fatty acids, and contain powerful... Today, I want to share one of the most exotic mango smoothie recipes I have tasted. "Curry Smoothie???" I hear you say. Please stay open minded, because this mango coconut curry green smoothie is a walk on the wild side. This recipe was inspired by a creative blend I tried from Brendan Brazier's fabulous THRIVE FOODS book. He shared a coconut mango smoothie and added yellow curry powder for it's anti-inflammatory properties. I have been adding chili peppers and cayenne pepper to my smoothies for many years. But, I had never tried adding curry powder to a smoothie. I was intrigued, to say the least. So, I fired up my Vitamix and was pleasantly surprised by the burst of flavours. I decided to create my own version to honour Brendan and... Keep Reading
