I have purchased all my ingredients, days, booked in for my colonics, made my raw vegan green milk and veggie broth, and I am ready to go!

It is not too late to join us! Karen and I will be moderating the group all weekend and available for support and encouragement, and to answer questions. Sign up here. Today, I have a treat for you! If you are looking for exotic juices with a difference, this green juice recipe will rock your world! I asked my friends, Donna Richards and Tora Cullip, from the amazing motivational, healthy living, and weight loss website, Donna and Tora to create a really inspiring green juice recipe, and they delivered in spectacular fashion with this dragon fruit and nashi pear blend! YUMMO!

I really enjoy reading their blog for tips about water and weight loss, tabata training tips, posture control for weight loss, and more. They also share delicious healthy recipes

This dragonfruit green juice is a fabulous example of their easy healthy recipes. If you haven't used dragonfruit before, here is the scoop!

Dragonfruit, also known as Pitaya, is a member of of the cactus family and is native to Mexico and Central and South America. It is also grown in Southeast Asia, Israel and Vietnam. We eat tons of them in Australia. Since being introduced in the 1980's, they have become quite prolific. You can also find them at Asian market stores and grocers in the United States.

Dragonfruit comes in three colours: two have pink skin, with either white or pink flesh, and the other is yellow with white flesh. All varieties contain edible flesh with black, crunchy seeds similar to a kiwi fruit. Dragonfruit has mild, delicate, slightly sweet flavour with the black crunchy seeds, which need to be chewed in order to be digested properly, tasting a little nutty. The taste is a cross between a kiwi fruit and a pear. My mum thinks is is bland like a melon.

The flesh is very low in calories, being mostly water and carbohydrates. But it does contain some protein. Red-skinned dragonfruit contains powerful antioxidants, and is a good source of vitamin C. It is also rich in fibre, and contain small amounts of minerals such as phosphorus, iron, and calcium. The seeds are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, and contain very little saturated fat. Dragonfruit is known to help neutralize free radical damage, assist with the excretion of heavy metal toxins, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and alleviate chronic respiratory issues. To eat it, just cut it open and scoop out the pulp and seeds with a spoon. The skin should not be consumed. So, do not place the skin through your juicer.

Give this oriental green juice a spin, and check out Dona and Tora for more healthy inspiration. If you want to lose weight in a healthy sustainable way, stay motivated, and get in the best shape of your life, these two powerhouse ladies can help!

Piggy Cooking Tips

select fresh spinach popeye would be proud of

The best tasting spinach has vibrant bright green leaves with crisp stems. This spinach also has the highest nutritional value. Purchase organic wherever possible. Avoid wilted leaves that have yellow discolouring, bruising, or a slimy coating. This spinach has passed its prime and should not be consumed.
