The first week of January is my favorite week of the year in L.A because it is quiet. There isn’t as much traffic on the roads, not as many people on the hiking trails, and the usual rat race of the city calms down for a relaxing time before production goes back.

It’s nice to have a break out of the studio. Scott and I haven’t done any recording. Instead, we've been catching up on Season 2 and 3 of Homeland. Next, we're catching up on Mad Men.

We've also been doing a lot of hiking and cleansing, and making this happy herby detox juice with all of the parsley, cilantro, and mint in our herb garden.

I only add 1 green apple (I use green because those varieties generally have the lowest sugar content). But, you could add 2 apples if you want your blend to be sweeter. I only use ½ peeled lemon or it can overpower the other flavors. Either way, this juice is a winner.

Try our 3-Day Juice Fasts or 14-Day Detox Dynamo Cleanse.

Happy Herby Detox Juice

Happy Herby Detox Juice

Makes one 16-ounce glass5 MINS
  • 1 bunch flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • 1 bunch mint
  • 1 to 2 green apples
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) filtered water

Put the ingredients through your juicer by adding some herbs and alternating with some pieces of apple and water (to get the most juice out of the herbs) and then drink pulped or strain with a fine mesh sieve.
