It is DAY 7 of "Green Juicing With Omega" to celebrate our AMAZING Omega Juicer Giveaway. Enter for your chance to win one of FIVE Omega Vert VRT350 Masticating Juicers. Today, we continue with a spectacular juice creation from the incomparable raw food maven, Meredith Baird and her partner,  rawkstar chef, Matthew Kenney. Their innovative spin on the classic Breuss Juice Formula ROCKS!

Meredith says of this juice, "The Austrian naturopath doctor, Rudolph Breuss developed this juice consisting of beets, carrots, celery, radish, and potatoes in specific ratios to provide a balance of basic elements required for the body's nourishment. This juice is used as part of a 42-day fast for total cancer treatment. The intended effect is to starve cancer cells. No matter what your intention, this is a balanced, powerfully detoxifying juice. We recommend this juice as an on-the-go lunch replacement. Using parsnip in the recipe really helps round the flavor, but it can be eliminated if you can't find fresh. We also use daikon radish in our recipe, but you can use 2-3 regular spring radishes if you can't find daikon."

Meredith has included this tasty and powerful tonic in her soon-to-be-released book, EVERYDAY RAW DETOX. It will be available on March 1st, 2013. She kindly sent me an advanced copy so I could choose a couple of recipes to feature this month, and let me tell you.....this book is AMAZING. If you want to be inspired to detox, THIS is the book. As usual with Meredith and Matthew, this latest book is class all the way. With stunning photography from Adrian Mueller, enticing decriptions, and valuable information about ingredients, juicing and blending techniques, this book will get you excited about being the best healthy version of yourself, and getting "Clean and Green in 2013."

One of best things about this book is that is makes detoxing accessible and FUN. This book is ALL about PLEASURE - finding sexy and interesting ways to incorporate healthy food into your diet. You can detox at a level that feels comforatable. Whether you want to cleanse for a day, a week, or find healthy live recipes, there is something on offer. There are 100 exotic raw, vegan recipes in this book from juices, to blended fruit or vegetable smoothies, brewed tonics, appetizers, soups, salads, dips, and main dishes, a section of skin and body tonics, and a wonderful resources section.

Tips!

here’s a great way to clean beet stains

Beets are delicious! But they can be messy to work with and stain everything they touch including hands, cutting boards and bench tops. I always use gloves to handle beets so I don’t spread the juices to everything else in my kitchen. To remove the beet juice from cutting boards and bench tops just sprinkle the surface with some salt. This helps to lift the residue. Leave it sit for a while and then rinse and scrub with soap and water.
You can’t beet that!

this looks so good

So I made MB’s Beet detox juice. It was ourt of this world.. The remaining pulp I created a soup for my son by browning some onions and garlic in a little olive oil and seasoning adding the pulp with two cups water.  He ate it and told me he told his friends who could not imagine purple soup.
(They don’t get out much) Haha!
Namaste
