We continue our celebration with another fantastic home made natural skin care recipe I got from Purvi at Zaaina Skincare. She has some AMAZING quick easy recipes using organic food grade ingredients. Check out her facebook page, where she posts these recipes throughout the week. I cannot rave enough about this simple blend of cucumber and tomato. I almost didn't post this recipe because it is so ridiculously easy. But then I reminded myself again, that "that is the point of this site!"
So I had to share this fantastic little concoction with you! I am blessed to have good skin, and I take care of it by wearing sunscreen, keeping hydrated, and eating well. But we all get blemishes from time and time, and we are tired and have not been getting rest, our skin tells the sad story! Well, this little elixir is like magic! You will not believe how fantastic your skin looks after applying this homemade natural toner.
So, here is Vitamix Recipe #30: HomeMade Organic Tomato Cucumber Skin Toner. Now, this natural skin care recipe is nothing new. People have been using tomato and cucumber on their skin for ages. However, it is always good to be reminded of how easy it is to blend up some cucumber and tomato and let fresh fruits and vegetables feed your skin from the outside! Cucumbers have amazing anti-inflammatory qualities that can reduce swelling, as well as soothe and soften skin tissue. They are also an excellent source of silica, a trace mineral that strengthens the skin’s connective tissue. If you have problems with enlarged pores, or acne and dull skin, tomatoes work wonders!!!
Blend up this concoction and let your skin sing! Thanks Purvi. You ROCK!

Piggy Cooking Tips
selecting great tomatoes
Tomatoes are very hard to transport when they are ripened as they get damaged very easily. So most tomatoes are picked green and then sprayed with ethylene gas (yuk) to make them red. They are also covered with a wax coating to prolong their shelf life. To avoid this “freak fruit” try to purchase organic tomatoes from local farmers that are allowed to ripen on the vine naturally. Look for tomatoes that have a rich red uniform colour and are firm and heavy. These tomatoes have the best flavour and the most lycopenes and nutritional value. If you must purchase conventional tomatoes peek the skin off before using.

Hi Tess!
Just wanted to say that I LOVE this toner! I’ve used it at night for the past two evenings and WOW does my skin look great afterwards. I’m going to use it again in the morning before going out. Piggies, you’ve got to try it if you haven’t already. Your skin and face will thank you! Is it OK to use daily or twice a day? I’ve been making a natural body scrub with coconut sugar/leftover coffee grounds (organic grounds from husband’s coffee in a.m.), almond oil, some essential oil (grapefruit) and rubbing it on body in shower and how LOVELY it is and makes my skin feel. Stimulating/ sloughes off old skin cells and nourishes and moisturizes at same time. Yea, it makes a mess in shower, but it easily washes down the drain and is safe for septic. My husband rubbed this concoction in his hair tonight (then rinsed it out in shower) - it massaged his scalp and made his hair so soft and shiny. Love the natural skincare. It is better for you and more economical. Thanks, Tess. Keep bringing on the recipes. Body and tummy are loving it. :)
Thanks Kibby!

LOVE your coffee scrub too.
I do things like that too.
I don’t waste any foods.
If they are ground and have some texture, I make scrubs too. They are SOOO good!
Glad you all enjoyed it.
