Happy New Year Piggies! To celebrate I am giving away a Vitamix 5200 valued at $449. I am SO excited I could burst! Insert piggy dance of joy here :) Those of you who have been following me for a while are well acqauinted with my long-time love affair with this miraculous machine. I use my Vitamix at least three times a day. I actually have TWO Vitamix blenders -- I have a red one and a white one! What can I say? Some people collect shoes, I collect fabulous blenders. Hey, I am The Blender Girl.
This amazing Vitamix giveaway runs for the entire month of January. So plenty of opportunities to enter!
Here's the trick to increasing your chances of winning: Once you create a piggy name and enter the giveaway, share your piggy name on Twitter and Facebook using Step 3 of the entry process. The more friends and readers mention your piggy name, the more bonus entries you get. That is how "runangelarun" won the Breville immersion blender last month. A lot of people mentioned this little piggy and that is how "runangelrun" won the race. So "share share share your piggy name and the link to the giveaway" is the name of the game. Good Luck!
In honour of this amazing Vitamix giveaway I am declaring this "I Love Vitamix Month". I will share a delicious quick easy Vitamix recipe every day during the month of January. YES!
I will post some of my favourite raw, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free smoothies, shakes, mocktails, dips, desserts, pies, dressings, sauces, home made skincare, natural cleaning products and more. Many of the recipes will be dairy free, egg free, nut free and soy free as well. So, I had better stop typing and start coming up with some more delicious recipes.
So for DAY 1 of "I Love Vitamix Month" and Day 1 of the new year, I thought that it only fitting that I post a green smoothie that we can all start off on a healthy note. So here is Vitamix Recipe #1: My Favourite Raw Vegan Spicy Vegetable Green Smoothie that accounts for your daily dose of vegetables. I drink this healthy veggie packed green smoothie almost every week. It is a fantastic smoothie for health, vitality, energy, detoxification AND hangovers! LOL! PERFECT for New Year's Day! Ha! Boy, will that cayenne pepper get your system going and wake you up! WOO!
I like this green smoothie a little bit salty than I have specified. But I am a vegan alkalarian, so I consume a lot of salts. But I find that most people prefer the quantities that I have specified in the recipe. I also add in a little bit more cayenne pepper. Start with a pinch and add more to taste. A little goes a long way! Give this smoothie a spin and let me know how you go!
Happy New Year! May 2012 be filled with love, joy, peace, good health, nourishment, and anything else your hearty desires. Oink Oink!
*Note: I did not receive payment to host this event. However, I did receive a Vitamix machine to give away this month.

Piggy Cooking Tips
the best way to clean your blender
After blending up something sticky, gooey or smelly, just place a few drops of soap in the carriage with some warm water and blend on high until all of the congealed food slips away from the blades and sides. Then repeat this process. Then rinse with water and presto! Clean carriage.
If you have smells or stains repeat this process with some bicarbonate of soda or lemon juice and water.
