It is DAY 20 of "Gluten Free Vegan Recipes with Breville" and we celebrate our Breville Sous Chef® Food Processor Giveaway "Alkarian-Style" today with one of the leaders in alkaline studies, the stunningly beautiful, incredible Shelley Redford Young, wife of Dr Robert O Young, and co-founder of The pH Miracle. For the past twenty years, they have aided the healing of thousands of people with their revolutionary vegan alkaline diet and lifestyle.

This alkalizing diet and scientific approach known as The New Biology® is based on their extensive nutritional microbiological work, which is now being taught to hundreds of people all over the world. Their renowned book, THE pH MIRACLE changed my life and health many years ago. This incredible book has now been printed in over twenty languages, and continues to help people all over the world reclaim their health and vitality.

Two years ago, my dream of meeting these two extraordinary people came true. Through my dear friend Denise, who was Dr Young's neighbour, I finally met my heros! It was an epoch in my life. I have learnt so much from hearing them speak; and have made several visits to their beautiful avocado ranch, "Rancho Del Sol"(Ranch of the Sun) in Valley Center, California. There, I have been a witness to countless miraculous stories of healing, and embraced many "PH Miracles" as they leave the ranch disease-free.

You can read my partner, Scott Brick's personal story of healing with Dr Young. He continues to work with Dr Young, eat Shelley's amazing vegan alkaline food, and THRIVE! Dr Young kindly allowed me to spend a few days with the chefs in the pH Miracle kitchen, where I had a crash course in preparing many of Shelley's incredible recipes. I had SO much fun!

You can read more about Dr Young's approach here. You can also read their incredible books, THE pH MIRACLE, SICK AND TIRED, THE pH MIRACLE FOR DIABETES, and THE pH MIRACLE FOR WEIGHT LOSS. Whatever you do, READ THESE BOOKS! Or LISTEN to them. Or, you can listen to the audiobook version that Scott and narrated.

Today, I wanted to celebrate the amazing work of Shelley Young, as so much of the success of the pH Miracle regime centres around her incredible food! For over 20 years, Shelley has travelled on this whirlwind journey with her husband and four children, developing and perfecting the delicious alkaline plant-based recipes that remain the mainstay of the pH Miracle program today.

As a Lecturer, Nutrition and Culinary Consultant, and Recipe Developer, Shelley's work provides the practical application of the alkalizing principles contained in the research of her husband. With a deep awareness of the dangers of the present-day acidic diet and its relationship to the epidemic of various diseases such as coronary heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer in both adults and especially children, she is constantly exploring the most creative ways to make alkalizing food more appetizing, delicious and attractive to the masses.

She does this in spectacular fashion. As a "master alkalarian chef", as she is called by her fans, she teaches alkalarian food preparation at her many seminars and retreats around the world, as well as in her Cooking DVD, Shopping DVD, and You Tube Videos. Some of my favourites are the Green Milk and Sweet Almond Shake with Liquid Chloropyll that I LIVE ON now! YUMMO! You can also find many of Shelley's delectable recipes in her two fabulous books, BACK TO THE HOUSE OF HEALTH and BACK TO THE HOUSE OF HEALTH 2

As a Licensed Lymphatic Massage Therapist (LMT) and trained microscopist, Shelley also lectures on the lymphatic system and its important role in the body. She is an amazing speaker, and is acclaimed for her seminars on how emotions affect our pH balance, as well as her presentations on the latest nutritional research. Highlights include teaching at the Women’s College in Beijing, China; being a keynote speaker at Tony Robbins’ Life Mastery events; and serving on a team of scientists and nutritionists as an invited member to NASA’s mission to Mars! Be sure to check out Shelley's amazing Massage Therapy book, and Hot Rocks Lymphatic Drainage Massage DVD.

Having been heavily influenced by John Robbins’ book, DIET FOR A NEW AMERICA, Shelley is a huge advocate of healing through a properly balanced way of eating, living, and thinking. She is especially passionate about helping children, becoming an activist in influencing schools to improve school lunch programs. An accomplished artist and illustrator, having studied art at the Watt’s Atelier in Encinitas, California, Shelley created two alkalarian heroes, "Doc Broc" and "The AvoRado Kid" that appear in the children's picture book, DOC BROC AND THE STONEHINGE CAVE ADVENTURE that she wrote and illustrated with her gorgeous son Adam.

Dr. Young, and Shelley also founded InnerLight, Inc., and The InnerLight Biological Research and Health and Education Foundation. This Foundation is committed to sharing Dr Young's research with the world, and assisting people who are dealing with debilitating diseases. Some of their extracurricular projects have included a double-blind research study at the University of Miami on curing diabetes; as well as applying their research to treat the wild animals at Out of Africa Wildlife Park in Arizona.

This dynamic duo are truly inspiring, and I have witnessed and personally experienced the miraculous healing powers of a vegan alkaline diet. Dr Young's research and Shelley's recipes have changed my life. I have never felt better, I will never look back, and I will forever grateful. "I am a proud Alkalarian!"

This fabulous edamame pate is a glorious example of the quick easy tasty food you can prepare as an alkalarian. This recipe has become a staple in our house, and I am sure it will be in your house too. Shelley typically makes this recipe in her masticating juicer by pressing the coconut and edamames through and mixing. But you can also make it in your Sous Chef® food processor. Shelley says about this recipe, "This pate is a beautiful green and white marbled pate with an Asian flair. High in protein and healthy fats. Makes great baby food too!" I say, "It is absolutely delicious and not to be missed!"

Dr Young and Shelley, thankyou for graciously participating in this event, sharing your delicious recipe, and for changing my life.
I am forever in your debt....

don’t waste those broccoli stalks

Have you ever been asked the question “Do you eat the heads of the broccoli or the stalks”? My answer – both! Most people prefer the heads. But the stalks are really tasty and useful too. If a recipe calls for only the heads of the broccoli don’t throw away the precious stalks! They are loaded with nutrients and really tasty. My favourite way to use the stalks is to grate or julienne the stalks to make broccoli slaw. Toss with some olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic and you have a quick raw salad that is bursting with green power!

Yum!!  I can’t wait to dive into this.

Oh PLEASE do! This recipe is so simple and absolutely delicious!

this edamame pate looks so easy to prepare and the green color is WOW!!  It makes a great spread for wraps too! enjoy!
