Today, I want to share with you one of my "go-to" alkaline green juice recipes, that I call, "The Ultimate Alkaline Cleansing Aid" - the magic elixir that will help you top up your alkaline buffers, purify your blood, detoxify your muscles and tissues, clean up your kidneys, and restore alkaline balance to your body after an "acidic orgy" eating binge! LOL! I ate pizza the other night, (which I very rarely do) and I felt a little "out of whack", to say the least. I juiced up this s'blended concoction before I went to bed, and again when I woke up the next morning, and was back on track! Perhaps I should call this juice the, "Out of Whack to Back On Track" Juice? O.K, sorry, it's been a long month!

But, seriously, I really do swear by this alkaline juice blend. Every single ingredient in this juice is incredibly alkalizing, coming together to create an ALKALINE POWERHOUSE. Lemons, limes, cucumber, and celery are four of the most alkalizing foods on the planet. I have listed green apple as an optional ingredient for those of you who find the zesty vegetable taste unpalatable. This is not the sweetest juice I have shared this month. But it is potent and effective. I started Scott on this blend with 1 apple, then reduced it to 1/2 an apple, then 1/4, and then no apple. You will get the best results without the inclusion of the apple. But, if you need to add it, it makes it taste delicious, and you are still getting some alkaline benefits. Make sure you use green apples, which typically have the lowest sugar content. But it is the Nu naturals Alcohol-Free Liquid Lemon Stevia that is the life saver in this recipe. Pick up some of this fabulous stuff. It is the best stevia I have ever used, with no bitter aftertaste it really takes the edge off this juice for those of you who find it too tart. This is a fantastic juice blend for those of you on the Body Ecology Diet.

Now, you don't see that many juice recipes utilizing asparagus, because the flavour can be rather unpleasant. Most of the asparagus juice recipes you find contain carrot or apple in them to mask the flavour, and make it more appealing to the average palate. Whilst you can use large amounts of carrots and apples to sweeten asparagus juice, I prefer not to neutralize the magical alkalinity, and instead, pair it with other high alkaline fruits and vegetables, in particular, cucumber, celery, lemons, and limes. I also enjoy blending it with tomatoes, cilantro, lemon, and chili pepper for a more gazpacho-style green juice. I will share that blend another time. 

If you just want to cringe at the thought of juicing asparagus, let me assure you that you cannot taste it in this juice blend. You CAN make asparagus juice more palatable, so please don't discount including it in your diet, or you will be missing out on one of the most powerful health-promoting, cleansing agents on earth! 

Asparagus is just LOADED with goodness. It is surprisingly high in plant-based protein, and rich in minerals and trace element salts which contribute to it's alkaline power. Asparagus contains calcium, phosphorus, iron, sodium, potassium,  selenium, manganese, copper, as well as Vitamin A and C, E and K, folate, niacin, riboflavin, and thiamin. Asparagus is also a good source of magnesium and zinc, and a very good source of fiber when eaten. 

Asparagus is also rich in antioxidants, which are best utilized when consumed raw and juiced. It contains high levels of glutathione, which helps to combat free radicals, the flavonoid quercetin, a cancer-fighting anti-inflammatory, and rutin, a blood vessel protector. Asparagus also contains the amino acid asparagine, which is a powerful diuretic, which helps to dissolve uric and oxalic acids. This makes asparagus juice effective for alleviating arthritic pain, and preventing and dissolving kidney stones. Asparagus juice can also be AMAZING during pregnancy as it helps to reduce water retention. 

Asparagus is also known to assist with the health of the pineal, adrenal, and thyroid glands, as well as major organs like the heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, skin, and spleen. It is especially helpful for renal and kidney health, as well as anemia, gout, rheumatism, prostate issues, and eye problems. It is also brilliant for coughs and mucous discharge. 

Asparagus juice is also SOOOO good for your skin! Excessive acid toxins in the blood builds up to contribute to acne, eczema and other skin disorders. A daily dose of asparagus juice helps to neutralize this acidity and expel it in other ways (like through the urine) which helps clear up these conditions very quickly if sugary and acidic foods are avoided! It is like magic. Trust me, I have tested this on my myself, as well as family and friends. 

Note: When passing through the system, asparagus typically creates a distinctive odor and dark colour to the urine. This means it is WORKING to alkalize and detoxify your kidneys. It passes very quickly, and is totally normal. Do not be alarmed. However, I will say, that you don't want to drink more than about 1/4 cup asparagus juice per day; and for people with kidney inflammation or other kidney issues, you really need to consult your doctor before consuming asparagus juice, as it can be irritating and cause pain. 

Asparagus season in North America is typically April - July. It grown primarily in the U.S. and around the Mediterranean Sea. Yes, it remains one one of the most expensive green vegetables because it is harvested by hand, but is SO worth the extra pennies. 

Honestly, I could bang on for HOURS about asparagus. It is SOOOO good for us! I drink this juice every week for my health, and have never looked back. It is just RAWMAZING. The “Ultimate Alkaline Aid” Kidney Juice

  • 8 large asparagus spears or 16 small
  • 2 large ribs celery
  • 1 handful/1 cup cilantro
  • 1/2 large cucumber or 1 medium cucumber
  • 1 small lemon, peeled
  • 1 lime, peeled
  • 1/2 - 1 whole green apple (optional - please read not in post)
  • 3 - 5 drops Nu Naturals alcohol-free lemon liquid stevia
  1. Process all ingredients except the stevia through your juicer (I use an Omega).
  2. Strain and tweak to taste. You may want to add more apple or stevia.
  3. Makes approximately 16 ounces for one person. Drink the whole thing for maximum benefits. 

Tip: the best way to store lemons

Lemons continue to respire and ripen after they have been harvested. The faster they respire the more carbon dioxide they produce, and the quicker they spoil. Store your lemons in the fridge to slow this down and they should keep for up to about ten days. Make sure you do not store them in plastic bags where they are on top of each other. When there is limited oxygen, the ethylene gas gets trapped, causing them to rot. Always bring them to room temperature to get the most juice out of them.

You are so welcome. This is pretty hard core for an introductory juice. I LOVE it, but I rarely eat fruit. Hi totally new to Pinterest etc.. My husband’s prostate cancer is now in hormone resistant phase.  I’ve been reading where having an alkaline body is much better for fighting this.  We have started a vegan diet but I need to do more. Don’t have juicer will Ninja blender work?

can i.mix sa.asoaragus with othwr fruits

I am looking for a juice for my grandmother who’s 88 years old for her kidneys one is giving up on her what do you recommend of juice for her?


This juice is generally good for kidneys, and any alkalizing green juices low in natural sugar. However, for elderly people with serious medical conditions, please consult your doctor. I am not a health care professional, and I wouldn’t want to advise you.

I am a body builder and right before a show I have to consume as much asparagus as I can because it is a natural dieretic and will draw out the water in my body. I am so sick of eating it and I am desperate to find a different way to get the asparagus into my system. I will be trying this!

is the aspargus raw or do i boil it first?


Yeah it’s good for everyone to be aware about the cleansing and detoxification process. Totalcleansedetoxdiet also provides cleansing processes which involves drinking lots of water, eating fresh fruit and vegetables.

Is this good for pre diabetic


Yes, this is a low sugar alkaline juice. But please check with your doctor.

can you suggest a combination of juice recipes for type 2 diabetics. please common vegetables ie asparagus, broccoli lettuce, cucumber etc and time to take them including regular meals

I must be my own species. I drink my asparagus juice straight! I juiced the greens off my asparagus (I Grow my own) and got about 1/4C through my Omega. After juicing the asparagus I cover the juice port with the ball of my hand then put 8 ounces of purified water into the juicer. Allow to run for about 30 seconds then empty into catch cup. I like to strain my juices, but it’s not necessary at all.


I drink 2T asparagus juice mixed with 1T raw vinegar and 1 T local honey in a glass of water every morning.  My friends gag at the thought but I think it tastes great.  Should I increase the amount?


I just tried that asparagus lemon cucumber cilantro drink I have been experience kidney stones and I’m in a lot of pain have not been able to go to the bathroom so I hope it does work




how long can you keep the blended asparagus juice in the fridge??
