Piggies! It is DAY 2 of "Gluten Free Baking With KitchenAid" to celebrate the amazing 7-qt bowl-lift stand mixer giveaway. As I said yesterday, I will be featuring a different gluten free blogger every day this month and sharing a gluten free recipe that can be made in the KitchenAid stand mixers. This week I chose some decadent treats to share in the lead up to the Easter holidays. Yesterday, I shared my gluten free chocolate hazelnut nutella cake; and today I am sharing Recipe #2: The Freedom Chef's Gluten Free "Easter Egg Hunt" Chocolate Cake Pops. So who is The Freedom Chef? All I can say, is Becky Ross, a.k.a "The Freedom Chef" is one of the loveliest gluten free bloggers I have never met! I say that because we have never met in... Keep Reading

Piggies! You are in for a treat today, because I am going to introduce you to Fresh N Lean -- my favourite vegan meal delivery service that will CHANGE YOUR LIFE! The vegan meals that this company prepares and delivers right to your door will ROCK YOUR WORLD. I had the pleasure of visiting their commercial kitchen and headquarters in Marina Del Rey, CA, and tasted many of their incredible recipes. One bite of their lasagne and I was hooked...along with hundreds of other people, as they revealed it was their most popular recipe! I, of course, boldly asked if I could have the recipe to share with you, and guess what? They not only gave me the recipe, but granted permission to publish it here! WOW! Talk about a shining example of, "Don't... Keep Reading

Piggies! I cannot believe I haven't shared my favourite homemade vegan tomato pasta sauce recipe until now. Just like the chunky vegetable soup recipe I shared last week, I make this vegetarian tomato pasta sauce recipe so often for my niece, that I forget to post it! LOL! I was actually prompted to post this by one of my favourite readers, Eric, who wrote to me for some advice about how to sneak more vegetables into his son, Tony's diet. Tony was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 5, and at age of 10, has undergone almost 30 rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Becauese of these procedures, Tony is extremely sensitive to certain flavours and doesn't eat a lot of vegetables. I had the pleasure of speaking to Eric on the phone, in... Keep Reading

Today I am sharing one of my favourite super easy vegan chunky vegetable soup recipes! Those of you who wonder if I have surrended my teeth will  be pleased to discover that I am, at long last, featuring another non blended soup! My father and I have had a 30 year debate about the virtues of chunk versus blended soups. We have agreed to disagree and acknowledge that there is room in the belly for both! I made a pot of this soup as a quick dinner last night and changed my mind about my scheduled post at the last minute and decided to share this recipe. Scott was so taken with it, I thought it deserved a mention. You know when you have been making a recipe for so long you take it for granted? It's kind of how I feel about this soup. It is... Piggies! I was in artichoke HEAVEN the other night when I tasted this incredible cream of artichoke soup at a birthday party, and I simply HAD to share this quick easy recipe with you today in honour of St Patrick's Day. Being Irish, I look forward to it every year! Those of you who have been following me for a while would be familiar with my dear friend, Mika, and her two boys Rei and Kai, who I lived with when I first moved out to CA in 2010. They are my family here; and through Mika, I have met some of the most wonderful people I have ever known -- Liz and her adorable son Flynn; and the Mohr Family: Jim and Toshiko, and their gorgeous children, Selina and Sean. Our monthly "pot luck and games night" has become one of my "can't live... Keep Reading

Piggies! Today is the 84th annual Academy Awards ceremony and Billy Crystal returns to host for the ninth time! I am so excited! This is just a very short post as I am hosting a brunch at my house before heading off to Skyboat Media's annual Oscar party. My friends Stefan Rudnicki and Gabrielle de Cuir host a sensational Oscar bash every year in honour of Gabrielle's father John De Cuir, celebrated art director and production designer who won 3 Oscars and a whopping 11 nominations. Nobody throws a party like Stephan and Gabrielle! Every year they choose a theme that pays homage to John and one of the films or actors nominated that year. Having attended their amazing party last year, I am DYING to see what they do tonight!  Before I head... Keep Reading

I don’t know about you, but I grew up with SodaStream. When I was growing up in Australia, commercial soda was reserved for guests and special occasions. My mother was very strict about healthy eating, and even natural soda was a treat. But whenever we were allowed to indulge, we made our own homemade sodas using fresh lemon, lime, and orange juice. It was a sad day, when we packed up the SodaStream! It, along with many of my childhood possessions, were boxed up and put in storage when we moved to Singapore in the late 80’s.  We never found the SodaStream when we moved back to Australia more than 12 years later. However, I would satisfy my SodaStream addiction whenever I would visit my friends, Stephanie and Rod, and their children... Keep Reading
