I love a great vegetarian omelette. Well, heck, I even enjoy a good omelette. But I must admit, that I cannot lower my standards any further. The worst kind of omelette? The cheese drowned, limp filled, soggy, sad omelette that I have to open up with a spoon. Those kind of omelettes require me to “coat check my liver and colon” before I can even stomach looking at them. I know a lot of you are thinking, “well how do you get any flavour?”. Well, one bite of this flavour-filled Persian omelette, and you will never ask me that question again. The secret to this baked omelette? Blending the fresh herbs. For those of you already celebrating the vegan, or at least, dairy free path of no return, this simple fact comes as no surprise. However,... Keep Reading

My motto every time I am in Paris? “A crepe a day keeps snout happy and gay” I have to admit, every time I am there, I find it very hard to resist sneaking into a creperie to partake of my secret guilty pleasure (which is not so secret any more). I mean people make culinary pilgrimages for the food! It is THE street food in Paris. And as they say, “When in Rome”. Well…you get my drift. I just can’t pass 100 people on the street with their snouts smeared with Nutella and banana and not stick mine in the trough that makes everybody else so happy? In the gluten free world, there is always the question: "What are you willing to endure a stomach ache for?" For my friend Jad, it is a really good croissant. For me, it will always be my beloved... I am in Australia at the moment where we do not celebrate Thanksgiving. But that does not mean that I am not thinking of my friends and family in the United States, getting ready for the holidays, and a wonderful family dinner. I have always maintained that the best thing about the holidays is not a few days off work, it is time spent in the warm embrace of family, and maintaining an attitude of gratitude for everything that is beautiful about life. And what is a good celebration without fabulous food? The home cooked meal that is lovingly prepared, and promises you a day of culinary bliss as it seductively wafts out of the oven all morning, Oh, the thoughts were just about enough to put me on a plane into tryptophan land. But what... Keep Reading
You all know my love of all things berry. I have to celebrate it here again today with this vegan dairy free berry smoothie. Whenever I make my daily vegan smoothie I almost have to pry my claws off the berries in the interest of diversity. However, in the interests of eating a cup of antioxidant rich berries every day, it is a challenge not to blend them up! So today I did exactly that, and decided to share one of my favourite vegan smoothies. This isn’t the most inventive or interesting vegan recipe I have ever posted. But it certainly hits the antioxidant, fibre rich checklist right on the snout! This vegan berry smoothie is a winner for anyone who wants to incorporate antioxidant, nutritionally dense raw foods into their diet and wants... Keep Reading

When I lived in Singapore, my friend Kat and I would always go the movies and get a smoothie from Orange Julius. Our snouts wiggled on the train all the way there in anticipation of what we called, “The orange shake of joy”. It was our little ritual that I remember fondly. Well, it is many years later and we are not those same care-free teenagers completely oblivious to the woes of refined sugar and heavily processed foods. However, my fondness of almonds and orange juice still prevails. Kat and I were speaking on the phone the other day nostalgically recalling our school day memories. It sparked an idea to revisit our shake of joy in a different incantation. The results were fabulous, and we can now stick our snouts in the orange almond... Keep Reading
I LOVE avocados. Can I say that again? I LOVE avocados. They are my absolute favourite raw food and I simply cannot get enough of them. My mum was always cutting open avocados and chowing down with a spoon when I was a child; and from my first bite, it was LOVE. A love that has only grown stronger over time. Guacamole, Avocado Dressing, Avocado Dip, Avocado Soup, Avocado everything. Oh it is just so versatile, and best of all – packs a healthy punch! I must admit, it wasn’t until I started dabbling with raw food about 20 years ago that I realised the untapped potential of my beloved avocado. It truly is THE fruit of the Gods. OK – so I say that about a lot of raw things. But avocados really are God's butter. That rich, nutty, buttery,... Keep Reading
