Are you including probiotic-rich foods in your diet? Including coconut water kefir, cultured vegetables, and this raw almond milk kefir have helped enormously to rebalance my inner eco-system, and restore my health and vitality. I wrote about many of these ideas in my how to section when I started the site a few years ago. But, it has been remiss of me not to have posted these very important recipes here on the blog. I will share these recipes in the next couple of months. Those of you who have been following me for a while would be familiar with my life-long battle with candida. You can read more about my personal story here. But, just briefly, I had tried every anti-candida diet known to man, and nothing really worked until I... Keep Reading

Homemade raw hazelnut milk is a culinary gift from the gods! I don’t tend to "milk" hazelnuts as much as other raw nuts and seeds, as my mind always wants to pair them with chocolate for decadent treats like pralines, chocolates tortes, home made ice creams, hazelnut butter, chocolate spread (Nutella) and chocolate pancakes! However, plain slightly sweetened hazelnut milk makes a delicious treat on it's own. It is a wonderful chilled drink, or can be mixed with some raw cacao for a chocolate hazelnut milk that is DIVINE! As with the homemade almond milk, cashew milk, macadamia milk, Brazil nut milk, coconut milk, and rice milk recipes I have posted, this raw hazelnut milk is as easy as SOAK, BLEND, and DEVOUR, and makes a fabulous base... Oh “happy day”! I get to celebrate all things cashew. Those of you who know me, are well acquainted with my cashew addiction. Those of you who are new to this recipe blog -- welcome to my obsession. Don’t be alarmed. I assure you, it is perfectly safe, and downright delicious. I will warn you though, it is highly contagious. But be comforted in the knowledge that you can enable this addiction, without too much collateral damage. Raw foodies, vegans, and vegetarians know all too well, the joys of the miraculous cashew. And yes, the joy extends far beyond throwing them in a salad or stir-fry. Which, hey, isn’t bad either! But there are a ton of other things you can exploit, the “all too compliant” cashew for. Cashews have long been one... Keep Reading
I don’t know about you, but I have never tasted anything made with raw coconut that I didn’t like. In fact, my love of all things coconut might just rival my love of avocados. Yep, a huge statement. But there it is. Confessions of a vegetarian food blogger. The thing that both of these incredible raw foods have in common, is that they are both nutritional powerhouses. Please indulge me for a moment. I am going to sing the praises of all-things-raw-coconut again. Raw coconut contains powerful antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties almost unmatched by any other food. The lauric and caprylic acids contained in coconuts are toxic to viruses and bacteria. But not healthy intestinal bacteria. It is high in saturated fat, and... Keep Reading
