I have tried all kinds of eco-friendly glass and window cleaners, both commercial products and natural recipes, and in my opinion, nothing works better than plain old vinegar and water! I almost didn’t post this tip because it is so easy and doesn’t really qualify as a “recipe”. But after speaking with some “green skeptic” friends this week who were not convinced that you could make effective natural cleaners that rivaled their toxic commercial counterparts, I thought it was worth posting this simple “vinegar and water” message to spread the word in the hopes that more people will give the “simple is best” approach a go. A mixture of ½ vinegar and ½ warm water is all you need to make glass surfaces, windows, and mirrors clear and... Keep Reading
Inspired by the Full Circle Cleaning Kit Giveaway this month, I continue to share some of my favourite natural cleaning recipes made out of ingredients you can get at the grocery store. This homemade natural eco-friendly laundry detergent is another amazing recipe I got from the folks at Full Circle. Get your stirring spoons out, because this quick, easy recipe is a winner! For many years I have used baking soda, vinegar, lavender oil, and tea tree oil to do my washing. But, when I came across this recipe in the Full Circle Greenhouse, CleanHouse Natural Cleaning Booklet that comes with their Come Clean Natural Cleaning Set, I decided to give it a go, and I LOVE it! This mixture is so easy to make, and your clothes will look and feel... Keep Reading
Piggies! I have the most amazing discovery to share – a fantastic company called Full Circle, that has developed a phenomenal line of eco-friendly cleaning tools that are helping America go green with their cleaning routine. These are literally the most functional, durable, stylish eco cleaning tools I have ever used! The “practical-yet-gorgeous” design of these products blows me away. Every detail has been fully thought-through -- such as ergonomic handles that make the tools easy to hold and highly effective, a stand up or hang up design for quick drying and less bacterial accumulation, as well as stunning bamboo bases that make them look like pieces of kitchen art! When I first saw them, they reminded me of the sleek Swedish and... Keep Reading
Piggies! As this is Memorial Day, I thought I would share one of my favourite quick easy desserts that I am serving up today. This nifty little idea looks impressive, and turns the simple into the sublime in minutes. After all, who doesn't enjoy a delicious ice cream sundae? This is a creative way to serve them. I freeze mine in cupcake liners sitting in cold muffin tins, as I've found this yields the best results. But you could also roll the ice cream, freeze it, and serve it straight onto a plate with some couli, or arrange them in cocktail glasses with some chocolate sauce. YUM! I just like the idea of little ice cream cakes! The beauty of this recipe is that there is NO FIXED RECIPE! You can choose any ice cream you like, and roll... Keep Reading
