Piggies! I cannot believe I haven't shared my favourite homemade vegan tomato pasta sauce recipe until now. Just like the chunky vegetable soup recipe I shared last week, I make this vegetarian tomato pasta sauce recipe so often for my niece, that I forget to post it! LOL! I was actually prompted to post this by one of my favourite readers, Eric, who wrote to me for some advice about how to sneak more vegetables into his son, Tony's diet. Tony was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 5, and at age of 10, has undergone almost 30 rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Becauese of these procedures, Tony is extremely sensitive to certain flavours and doesn't eat a lot of vegetables. I had the pleasure of speaking to Eric on the phone, in order... Keep Reading

I love gluten free pasta! It is such a quick, easy meal that always seems to hit the spot. Enjoying pasta has not been a problem for us, as there are quite a few fantastic gluten free packaged pastas out there that taste really good. My personal favourites in the United States, are the Trader Joe’s Brown Rice Penne and the Tinkyada Organic Brown Rice Pasta. In Australia, I am partial to the Orgran rice and corn pasta. For me, they most closely resemble the flavour and texture of traditional wheat pasta. However, I have always been a firm believer that food should not just satisfy hunger and flavour needs; but should also be as nutritionally dense as possible. These pre-packaged gluten free pastas are fantastic for convenience. But as far... Keep Reading
One of the things I missed the most after starting a gluten free diet was going out for a really great pizza. I happily ate my stash of Amy’s frozen rice crust pizzas to stave off the wheat weeping, but longed to find a home made gluten-free pizza base recipe that I could make from scratch. I continued experimenting with every packaged gluten-free pizza dough mix I could find, and did have some success -- the Wholefoods mix was quite good. Although, like so many of the other mixes, I found them a bit too starchy and doughy, or they tasted like cardboard. I was left wanting. However, a couple of years ago, I hit the gluten-free pizza base jackpot! I took some fantastic gluten free cooking classes with Rachel Van Den Bosch, and she shared... Keep Reading
