Today I have to share with you one of my favourite websites for raw foods recipes. I first connected with the ladies from Uncooking 101 (what a great name) earlier this year when they wrote me a lovely email telling me how much they loved my vegetarian recipe blog and how they felt it had "something for everyone". I was really flattered as a fellow food blogger, but humbled once I acquainted myself with their incredible work. So let we acquaint all of you. Uncooking101 is a raw recipe blog that is the brainchild of founder, head chef and CEO, Eva Rawposa and her delightful sidekick, Venita Hale. Eva is a raw chef and vegan health educator, who is passionate about sharing her knowledge about a eating raw foods after noticing such a... Keep Reading
Piggies! Thankyou for all of your birthday wishes last week. As a humble vegetarian food blogger, I really appreciate all of your messages on Facebook, Twitter and email. Yes! I had a s'blended birthday celebration week in NYC with my friends -- laughing and scoffing my way around my favourite haunts. I just feel at home in NYC. Is there any other city that boasts such vibrancy and diversity? It is like chocolate for me -- I just can't get enough. The proud piggy in me freely admits, that, yes, as suspected, I did spend my entire birthday indulging my snout in one trough or another! It was absolutely sensational. I enjoyed one continuous travelling degustation meal in every neighbourhood of NYC. My snout was tingling, my taste buds were... Keep Reading
Piggies! I fear I am writing yet another letter of apology for my lack of new recipes this month! (Note to self: as a food blogger you need to post recipes!) No recipes for Easter from me this year! But if you are inclined to make some Anzac biscuits for Anzac Day, I have a fantastic gluten free recipe. Suffice to say, it has been a very busy, exciting couple of weeks in the healthy blender world. First thing on the agenda: I travelled to San Francisco to shoot some videos for Chow in their test kitchen at the CBS Interactive headquarters. Some of you might remember that I was Chow's "Member Of The Month" back in February. If you haven't seen it, check it out. The Chow team tested some of my vegetarian recipes in their test kitchen and... Keep Reading
Happy St Patrick's Day my fellow piggies. I am so thrilled my family are staying with me and we can spend this fabulous day together. This is one of our favourite holidays. My mother is part Irish -- her family are descendants of the McDermotts, Sullivans and O'Learys. We are very proud of our Irish heritage and milk it for all it's worth. I know St Patrick's Day was originally a religious holiday. But let's be honest, to any self-respecting hedonist, it is fondly embraced as a "feast and drinking day": a fabulous opportunity to celebrate "everything Irish" and a golden invitation to get "over-refreshed" with irreverent indulgence under the guise of national and ethnic pride. Those of you who know me know all-too-well my penchant for "all... Keep Reading
I am posting this delectable raw vegan lemon cream as a simple adaptation of the raw vanilla cashew cream and honey cream that I posted some time ago. It is SO delicious; and is an incredible accompaniment to the "rock-your-world" damp lemon and almond cake I am posting at the end of the week. So I had to share it with my fellow piggies. It will also be a help for those of you who have emailed me, being new to raw vegan cooking, and not feeling confident to make any changes to the raw recipes. My mum asked me (with excited anticipation) the other day as she was "uncooking" for a Spring event, "where is that raw vegan lemon cream recipe?" I had an immediate flash-back to her infamous unladylike licking performance with the raw honey cream,... Keep Reading
Hello, I am The Blender Girl, and I continue my shameless bribes with chocolate. Feedburner is still "crapping itself" and I apologise again for the relentless "spamming" of your inboxes. So I offer up more chocolate today in the hopes of appeasing you and encouraging Feedburner to join our healthy blending party! I am a proud raw vegan chocoholic. Or more specifically, a raw vegan chocolate moussaholic. Today, I thought it was time I posted my favourite raw vegan allergy free chocolate mousse recipe that can be made in less than five minutes in your blender (I like to use my Vitamix) and is absolutely divine. For those of you looking for quick easy Vitamix recipes and blender recipes this is a winner! If the allergy free gluten free... Keep Reading
At the risk of sounding corny – “there is no place like home”! Paul Young says “wherever I lay my hat that’s my home”. But as much as I love that song, I cannot agree. For me “home is where the heart is”, and my heart will always be with my family. I almost found myself on a plane back to Australia at the beginning of the week. I woke from a nightmare in a cold sweat, and in a moment of panicked home-sick nostalgia, AKA “I miss my mummy and daddy”, my fingers found themselves furiously pounding the keys in desperate anticipation of the cheap-skate deal of the century that was going to answer my prayers and whisk me back to Australia for a week with my loved ones. As I sat there wading through a sea of non-compliant discount internet sites... Keep Reading
Today I am feeling more grateful than ever for my health. After what has been the most challenging year of my life I am finally back on the road to optimum vitality and abundance, and I owe so much to the extraordinary women in my life, who have nurtured me with love, understanding, compassion, and a lot of incredible comfort food! I owe a huge part of my recovery to Dr Elaine Carter who has changed my life, and to Sharon and Lois who work with her. Today we are celebrating another wonderful vegan recipe cooked up with these three wonderful women who have been such guiding lights and wonderful friends this year. I am grateful every day for their wisdom and insight. We have so much fun cooking together and sharing stories over delicious... Keep Reading
A thousand apologies for my absence! No, I have not dropped off the face of the earth -- merely relocated to another gorgeous piece of it. I moved to L.A! To find out more about my hilarious journey across the Mid West, check out my events blog. I am writing a new chapter in my life and am determined to make it full of joy, laughter, and of course, delicious vegetarian food. I am just absolutely basking in the extraordinary variety of fresh local produce on offer at Whole Foods and the various farmer’s markets. I had forgotten how exquisite the fruits and vegetables are out here. I lived here for 5 years when I was a college student at UCLA and gobbled down more than my fair share of fresh fruit as I was touring the various markets! I am... Keep Reading
Rob and I were in Ojai, California this week and we were baking! No – not the “put a pie in the oven” kind of baking; rather, the “it’s too hot for humans” kind of baking – where you are sweating in embarrassing places you didn’t know could weep for themselves. OK, so perhaps I am overstating the heat just a tad, and I shouldn’t be complaining after escaping the “slap you in the face” oppressive heat of Arizona. But when you have been standing under the hot sun in a field knee deep in bushes for two hours waiting for the light to change, it brings out the little princess “where is my assistant with the umbrella?” side of any girl! Rob had some great photo ideas for the recipe blog and so we seized the moment, grabbed an empty blender... Keep Reading
