Vitamix Sweet Beet, Strawberry & Cranberry Smoothie

12

We continue our celebration of "all things Vitamix" with another delicious healthy smoothie that can be made in minutes. As I have said many times, I could literally live without teeth! I just LOVE fruit and vegetable smoothies because you can create endless varieties of nutrient-dense meals that taste delicious and are fun!

Now, I don't know about you, but so much of the enjoyment of food is about texture. The BEST thing about the Vitamix is the gorgeous creamy texture you get with smoothies. Instead of getting the lumps and bits you can't get rid of with traditional blenders, the Vitamix will pulverize anything like fibrous vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, and rock hard frozen fruits. Afterall, they ARE called "smoothies!"

As I explain in the Vitamix Smoothies Video, adding the ingredients in the order listed in the Vitamix recipe is key to getting the smoothest most efficient blend. If you are creating you own blend, you will get the best results by putting the liquid ingredients in first, then the solids, and then the ice on top. The ice will help pull all of the other ingredients down towards the blades for a nice smooth creamy texture.

This Sweet Beet, Strawberry & Cranberry Smoothie is one of my favourite Vitamix smoothies because it has a delightful zesty taste, gorgeous deep rich red colour, and is LOADED with antioxidants. This smoothie is a fantastic healthy boost. You have beets that help tone the liver, and are full of antioxidants, soluble fibre, folate, potassium, vitamin C, and tons of other essential nutrients. Cranberrries help with urinary tract health in women, combat bacteria in the stomach and digestive system, and have powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. Raw cranberries also contain digestion-aiding enzymes. Then the strawberries add a delicious sweetness.

You can find all kinds of fantastic smoothie combinations in the Vitamix Recipe Center when you search under smoothies. Some of my personal favourites are the Autumn Sweet Potato Smoothie Citrus Smoothie, Fruit Salad Smoothie; the Everything Smoothie that is LOADED with your daily dose of fruits and veggies; and watch my video where I show you how to make a delicious Tropical Cooler Smoothie thickened with tofu.

I am making my way through all of the wonderful smoothie creations that have come out of the Vitamix test kitchen. You can make most of the smoothies vegan by substituting dairy yoghurt, milk and ice cream etc with soy, almond, or coconut counterparts etc. They taste delicious. As I have said many times, Vitamix brings a whole new meaning to the term, "Smoothies!" It just doesn't get any better!

Piggy Cooking Tips

the best way to clean your blender

After blending up something sticky, gooey or smelly, just place a few drops of soap in the carriage with some warm water and blend on high until all of the congealed food slips away from the blades and sides. Then repeat this process. Then rinse with water and presto! Clean carriage.
If you have smells or stains repeat this process with some bicarbonate of soda or lemon juice and water.
Check out the video on A No Hassle Way To Clean Your Blender that I did as part of the Chow Tips Series.

Wow this looks amazing.  I love using beetroot in smoothies as it gives it such a vibrant colour.  It’s also brilliant at hiding greens in green smoothies and can even turn a green smoothie bright pink.
I totally agree with you that I could get by just fine with no teeth as I love my blended food so much too.

I love my vitamix to make my protein smoothies, hot soups, etc.  The investment was so worth it….using it in my Healthy Living classes at my Church. Was great being able to buy it on easy pay on QVC.
