Hi Tess,
Supposedly dietetics are not able to drink juices since it raises their sugar levels too fast.
What I want to know is: Does this hold true for smoothies.

reply

Yes, pulp free fruit juices without the fibre can really spike your sugar levels. High fruit/sugar smoothies can also do the same. I mainly drink alkaline vegetable smoothies. You need to monitor your body and watch out for those kind of reactions.

Hi…this drink looks delicious.  My question is, do I have to strain this drink?  If I didn’t mind the seeds from the strawberries or pulp from the lime…is there another reason to strain?

reply

You really only strain for texture. It is DELICIOUS unstrained, and the way I prefer it too. Enjoy :)

this would be AWESOME with chia in it

reply

I totally agree! SOOO good! LOVE chia seeds.

Could this smoothie be made with the ice cubes?  Would that effect the over all taste?

reply

Do you mean without the ice cubes? Yes. They are just there to make it cold to enjoy immediately. If you want to make it without ice, just add some more water. If you mean, unstrained with the ice cubes, absolutely. I LOVE it this way. Enjoy :)

My Vitamix is ‘in the mail’...can’t wait!

reply

Yeah! I hope you have been enjoying it!

I usually run on a very tight schedule before I go to work.  How much nutrition is lost if I make a breakfast smoothie for myself the night before to drink on the way to work?

reply

Vitamix has been here for a week…green smoothies everyday…energy abounds!  Even my husband (a real nay sayer) is drinking them!!

PMK - that is AWESOME. Penny - for the least nutritional degradation smoothies are always best consumed right after they are made. However, this is not always possible. If you need to make them the night before, pour them into a glass mason jar and secure the lid and place straight in the fridge. You can also freeze smoothies. You will just need to shake them once defrosted as they can separate.
